Curfew imposed in Surkhet from 1:30pm

Police fires 25 rounds gunshot in air to contain demonstrations
District Administration Office, Surkhet has imposed curfew in Birendranagar from 1:30 pm today, the Chief District Officer (CDO) of Surkhet Baldev Gautam told Setopati.
The decision was taken to impose curfew after the demonstrations against the inclusion of Surkhet district in Province 6 in state delineation turned violent. The
Banda was imposed in the district since early this morning and demonstrators clashed with police at different places.
Meanwhile, police resorted to firing 25 rounds gunshot in the air to take the demonstrations under control.
Banda was imposed by Civic Struggle Committee today to protest aganist putting Surkhet, Jajarkot and Dailekh of Bheri zone and the districts of Karnali zone to Province 6.
All the political parties in the district have supported the cause for undivided Mid-west and the protests have garnered widespread public support. The Struggle Committee has warned of continuing with the protests until the demand is met.
